Consider The Alternative
02/23/2010
Editor’s Note: One of the things that make crappie fishing such a great sport is that crappie will bite 365 days a year. I’ve kept repeating that to myself the last few weeks while I watched the lakes and reservoirs that I’ve crappie fished in across the country turn into tumbling oceans of chocolate milk from all the rain over the winter and then turn into chocolate milkshakes as they nearly froze over with this last winter cold front. Now factor in that many lakes are experiencing some pretty sizeable shad kills from the cold and it’s tough to get real excited about a day of crappie fishing. Of course, consider the alternative, if it comes down to fish or stay home—I’m going to pick fishing every time.
Whitey Outlaw – Return of The Swamp Thing
02/05/2010
Editor’s Note: Whitey Outlaw of St Matthews, South Carolina is a seasoned crappie tournament competitor and long time pro staff member for B’n’M Poles. The host of the popular outdoor TV show "Crappie University" from 2001 – 2005 now spends a majority of his time fishing the Crappie Masters national tournament trail which takes him from the Harris chain in south Florida to Truman Lake in Missouri. While a formidable competitor on any lake, he’s most at home in the swamps of Santee-Cooper.
