B’n’M Unveils 5 New Rods at ICAST for 2019

By Phillip Gentry

ICAST, the world’s largest sport fishing trade show, is the premier showcase for the latest innovations in fishing gear, accessories and apparel. ICAST is the cornerstone of the sportfishing industry, helping to drive recreational fishing product sales year round. At this year’s show, held July 10 – 13 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, B’n’M Poles of West Point, Mississippi unveiled five new fishing rods as part of its new product lineup for 2019.

B’n’M Marketing Manager Jason McDuffie said the new products for 2019 include some improvements on older model rods as well as at least one venture into a brand new market.

“We’re real excited about our new products for 2019. We’ve got rods to target crappie, catfish and new for this year, a spinning rod designed for trout fishing anglers,” said McDuffie. “All of these rods were presented at ICAST and we received a lot of positive response from the show.”

The new Russ Bailey Signature Series rod adds to an already established legacy.

The first rod on the list is a new model in the Russ Bailey Signature Series of crappie fishing rods that has been a popular staple in the B’n’M lineup for many years. It’s a jig pole with spinning rod guides and will be offered in 8 and 10 foot lengths.

The Tree Thumper combines strength and finesse to pull big slabs out of tree tops.

The second rod is a new collaboration between B’n’M and Lake D’Arbonne, Louisiana crappie fishing guide Steve Danna. The new Tree Thumper rod combines the two extremes of B’n’M’s Brushcutter rod, the toughest rod in the lineup, and a Buck’s Ultra Lite, one of the company’s most sensitive rods.

“This rod is a cross between an ultra light, with all the sensitivity is has and the backbone of a heavier rod,” said McDuffie. “Just what you want when you’re pulling big slabs out of tree tops.”

B’n’M has rapidly become one of the leading manufacturers of catfishing rods with its Silver Cat Series rods and Pro-Staff Bumping rods. New for 2019 are two new catfish tamers for catfishing fans.

The original Silver Cat rod has been redesigned with some really eye-popping colors. The same features that make this rod a favorite are still present – 7 and 8 foot lengths, and two piece design along with wrapped handles, super slick ceramic guide inserts, and graphite reel seat now sport a more colorful aqua blue and metallic silver color scheme.

Catfishermen have asked for a super tough E-glass rod from B’n’M and now they’ll get one with B’n’M’s new 7 ½ foot Silver Cat Elite catfish rod. The first of the B’n’M lineup to be made in a non-parabolic E-glass composition that gives the rod the strength of a mule without the kick of one.

For catfish anglers, the Silver Cat Elite is B’n’M’s first totally E-Glass rod.

The Silver Cat Elite has a super stiff action combined with a fast tip. The rod also features EVA foam handles with an x grip finish that mimics a wrap and to top it all off has stainless steel guides. This rod has already become a great seller in an early release to a few retail stores.

Finally, B’n’M is making a big splash in the trout fishing/spinning rod market by partnering with Trout Magnet’s Jeff Smith to make a trout fishing rod to compliment Trout Magnet’s great line up of cold water trout fishing tackle. The B’n’M Trout Magnet rod is long and extremely lightweight like a flyrod, but with spinning rod guides that gives the angler the ability to cast lightweight baits and tiny lures.

“B’n’M continues to be an innovator in the design of fishing rods to meet every angler’s needs,” said McDuffie.
